Proverbs 3:4

So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

Walking in Favor Through God's Wisdom

Everyone desires favor—whether in our relationships, workplace, ministry, or daily life. Proverbs 3:4 reminds us that true favor is not something we chase; it is something that follows a life rooted in God's truth.

This verse comes after Proverbs 3:3, where we are encouraged:

"Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart."

When mercy and truth become part of our character, they shape the way we speak, act, and treat others. As a result, we experience favor and gain respect both from God and from people around us.

What Does "Favor" Mean?

God's favor is His gracious blessing and approval upon our lives. It opens doors, provides guidance, and gives us strength in difficult situations. While we cannot earn God's love through our works, living according to His Word allows us to enjoy the blessings that come from walking in obedience.

Good Understanding

The verse also speaks of gaining "good understanding." This refers to living with wisdom, discernment, and integrity. People trust those whose actions consistently reflect honesty, kindness, and faithfulness. Godly wisdom builds healthy relationships and brings peace into our lives.

Applying Proverbs 3:4 Today
