The Beginning of wisdom Proverbs chapter 1 gives a clear explanation of the purpose of this book. The author of this book, Solomon's lineage and to whom he is writing are clearly stated. This is a book full of warnings against sin. It is written with the intention that her son should act wisely and prudently. Proverbs 1:1 says:  "The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel." This verse introduces the book of Proverbs. It tells us that King Solomon, the son of David, wrote these wise sayings. Solomon was known for his great wisdom, which he received from God. The book of Proverbs contains his teachings to help people live wisely. It establishes that the teachings are not just human ideas but are divinely inspired wisdom passed down through Solomon, a king chosen by God.
