Proverbs 4:25 – Keep Your Eyes on the Right Path

Image
“Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.” — Proverbs 4:25 (KJV) Proverbs 4:25 continues the practical instruction found in this chapter. After teaching us to guard our hearts and put away harmful speech, Solomon now turns our attention to our eyes and our focus . The verse encourages us to look straight ahead and keep our attention on the right direction. In our spiritual journey, it is easy to become distracted by the things around us. We may become discouraged by our circumstances, tempted by what we see, or distracted by the paths others are taking. God's wisdom calls us to keep our eyes focused on the path He has placed before us. “Let Thine Eyes Look Right On” The verse begins: “Let thine eyes look right on.” This is an encouragement to maintain a clear and steady focus. Image
The Danger of Rejecting God's Wisdom Proverbs 1:29 (KJV) says: "For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord:" This verse highlights the consequences of rejecting wisdom and refusing to fear the Lord. It serves as a warning about the dangers of ignoring God's guidance. 1. Hating Knowledge – This does not mean just ignorance but an active rejection of wisdom. It’s like a patient who knows a doctor’s advice will heal them but chooses to ignore it. God gives wisdom through His Word, through godly counsel, and even through life experiences. But when people reject wisdom, ...

Image
“Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.” — Proverbs 4:24 (KJV) Proverbs 4:23 teaches us to “Keep thy heart with all diligence.” The very next verse turns our attention to something that flows from the heart—our speech. Our words reveal much about what is happening within us. They can encourage or discourage, heal or hurt, build up or tear down. Proverbs 4:24 gives us a clear instruction to put away dishonest, harmful, and corrupt speech from our lives. God desires not only a heart that is right before Him but also words that reflect truth, kindness, wisdom, and grace. “Put Away from Thee a Froward Mouth” The verse begins: “Put away from thee a froward mouth.” The word “froward” refers to something that is perverse, stubborn, or contrary to what is right. A froward mouth can describe speech that is dishonest, argumentative, rebellious, or deliberately harmful. This verse encourages us not merely to control our words after they are spoken but to ...
