Proverbs :1: 11 - The Trap of Sinful Influence
The
Trap of Sinful Influence
Proverbs 1: 11
"If they say, Come
with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent
without cause:"
This verse warns against the influence of sinful
and violent companions. Spiritually, it teaches us:
1. Avoid Bad Company – The Bible repeatedly warns
against associating with people who encourage evil. Their influence can lead us
away from God’s path. (1 Corinthians 15:33 – “Evil communications corrupt
good manners.”)
2. The Deception of Sin – Sin often appears attractive,
but its true nature is destructive. Wrongdoers may lure others into their
schemes, but their path leads to ruin.
3. The Call for Discernment – God wants us to have wisdom
and discernment to recognize evil intentions. He calls us to stay alert and
make righteous choices.
4. The Innocent Are Targeted – Wickedness often preys on the
weak and innocent. As believers, we are called to defend the helpless and not
participate in injustice.
So we should,
- Surround
ourselves with godly influences.
- Seek
wisdom from God to make righteous choices.
- Not
be tempted by quick gains that come from hurting others.
- Trust
in God's justice and avoid the path of the wicked.
