Proverbs 2:13 - Stay in God’s light—don’t trade the right path for the darkness of sin.

Stay in God’s light—don’t trade the right path for the darkness of sin Proverbs 2:13 (KJV) says: “Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness.” “Paths of uprightness” → refers to living a good, moral, and righteous life according to God’s wisdom. “Leave” → means a deliberate choice to turn away from what is right. “Ways of darkness” → represents sin, evil, dishonesty, and a life without God’s truth. In context, Proverbs 2 is teaching about the value of wisdom. Verse 13 warns that some people reject wisdom and righteousness, choosing instead to live in sin. They prefer darkness (evil) over light (truth). In simple words: This verse describes those who abandon what is right and choose to live in sin and wickedness. A good biblical example of Proverbs 2:13 is King Saul . In the beginning, Saul walked in the “path of uprightness.” He was humble and chosen by God as Israel’s first king (1 Samuel 10). But later, Saul turned away from obed...

Proverbs 2:12 - Wisdom that rescues from evil

Wisdom That Rescues from Evil   Proverbs 2:12 (NIV): "Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse," This verse is part of a longer section in Proverbs 2 where Solomon explains the benefits of seeking wisdom. Here, the focus is on one of the key purposes of godly wisdom : protection . "To deliver thee" – Wisdom acts like a shield, protecting the believer from danger. "The way of the evil man" – This refers to a path or lifestyle that is sinful, deceitful, and against God's ways. "That speaketh froward things" – "Froward" means perverse , twisted , or rebellious . The evil man uses words that deceive, corrupt, or lead others astray. So, when God fills you with wisdom, you gain discernment— the ability to know right from wrong , and the courage to say “no” to what is evil. We live in a world full of voices—some honest, some not. Without godly wisdom, it's easy to get pulled into ...

Proverbs 2:11 - Guided by Wisdom, Guarded by Understanding

Image
Guided by Wisdom, Guarded by Understanding Proverbs 2:11 (KJV) “Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee.” Discretion : This refers to wise judgment, the ability to choose wisely between right and wrong, good and evil. Preserve thee : Discretion acts like a guardian , protecting you from harm—be it from temptation, bad company, or dangerous situations. Understanding : This is deep insight and clarity, rooted in God's truth. Shall keep thee : Meaning it will sustain and guide you —not just protect you from trouble, but help you remain steady and faithful. In short, when we gain wisdom from God, it gives us both the sense to avoid danger and the strength to stay on the right path. This verse reminds us that true safety doesn’t just come from physical measures like locks and guards—but from God-given wisdom that shapes our decisions. Many dangers in life—moral failure, toxic friendships, impulsive decisions—can be avoided by having discretio...

Psalm 3 - What do we learn

PSALM 3 "Confidence in Crisis"  Psalm 3 is a powerful psalm of trust and deliverance written by David when he fled from his son Absalom. Psalm 3:1 "Lord, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me!"  David is overwhelmed by the number of enemies. He’s not just being attacked physically, but emotionally and spiritually.  When we face overwhelming problems or feel outnumbered, we can still cry out honestly to God. He listens. Psalm 3:2 "Many are saying of me, 'God will not deliver him.'" His enemies are mocking his faith, suggesting even God has abandoned him. Others may doubt our relationship with God, but their opinions do not define His faithfulness. Hold on to God’s promises. Psalm 3:3 "But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high." David shifts from fear to faith. God is his protector, his honor, and the lifter of his discouraged spirit. Even when all else fails, God surrounds us, restore...

Psalm 2 - What does it tell us?

Image
PSALM 2 Psalm 2, explores the powerful themes of God’s sovereignty, human rebellion, and the authority of His Anointed (Messiah). This psalm is often considered both prophetic and messianic, pointing to Jesus Christ. Psalm 2:1  "Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot in vain?" Human pride often leads to rebellion against God. Nations may rage, leaders may scheme, but without God's blessing, their plans are ultimately futile. This reminds us not to fear worldly powers, but to trust in God's greater purpose. Psalm 2:2 "The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His Anointed." The world often unites against God's truth and His chosen One. Yet, no matter how powerful they seem, their defiance will never overcome God's will. Stay faithful even when society resists godliness. Psalm 2:3 "Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us." This cry for inde...

Proverbs 2:9 - Walking in God’s Path of Righteousness

Image
Walking in God’s Path of Righteousness Proverbs 2:9 (KJV): "Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path."  In Proverbs 2, Solomon is teaching his son (and all of us) the value of pursuing wisdom and understanding. Verses 1-8 speak about receiving God’s words, seeking wisdom like hidden treasure, and fearing the Lord. Then, in verse 9, Solomon tells us the result of pursuing wisdom: When we seek God's wisdom, we begin to understand what is right in God's eyes — both in our personal lives and in our dealings with others. We develop discernment — the ability to make sound decisions, to judge between right and wrong, good and evil, truth and error. Equity means fairness, justice, and integrity. God's wisdom helps us treat others rightly, fairly, and without partiality. Wisdom doesn’t just guide us in individual moments but leads us into entire ways of living that are good, righteous, and blessed by God. In a world fill...
